In 2004, China imported machine tools of 5.78 billion US dollars and exported machine tools only 520 million US dollars. In 2005, the total output value of China's machine tools was about 5 billion US dollars, and the export machine tools were 800 million US dollars, while the imported machine tools reached 6.7 billion US dollars.
